LOVE ONE ANOTHER
When we do too much or too little for someone else it leaves them unmotivated to do for themselves.
It was something pretty simple that hit me upside the head like a clue by 4 this morning. As many of you know I consider myself semi-retired at the lovely age of 53, so I feel I have plenty of time to help out or do those certain little things. Each morning after I get out of bed I do my regular routine which includes leaving some freshly cut up fruit on the counter for my hubby to put into containers to take to work with him for later in the day, I’ve already doled out my portion before he takes his. It seems I have been asking him a lot lately if he is done with whatever fruit it is so then I put it back into the refrigerator. Finally I said it this morning, “if you’re done, why can’t you put it in back in the frig?” I’ll tell you why, because I keep doing it for him. I know it’s a simple example, but it stuck in my mind. Then throughout my morning prayer and meditation time the first line that I typed kept coming back into my head like the lyrics of a song. “When we do too much or too little for someone else it leaves them unmotivated to do for themselves”. Once again this is about balance. Oh, I’ve been seeing plenty of examples of this in my life and the lives of those close to me and then I saw it only took one simple example to tip the scales, so I could really see what I was guilty of. Not only does this leave others to feel unmotivated, it also leaves them dependent, and in turn can leave their self-esteem to falter.
Sometimes I feel like I do too much, sometimes I feel like I do could do more. I was out of balance, reexamination time!
Help those who truly need help, allow those who can do for themselves grow wings and fly!
Thank you God for this awesome message this morning!
